Chuck Schumer, born November 23, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, is a U.S. Senator serving since 1999, representing New York. He graduated from Harvard University in 1971 and Harvard Law School in 1974. Schumer began his political career in the New York State Assembly and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1981. In 1998, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he has been re-elected multiple times. Schumer has held leadership roles, including Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, and currently serves as the Senate Majority Leader since 2021.
