Jeffry Lane Flake (b. December 31, 1962, in Snowflake, Arizona) is a former American politician and diplomat. He served as U.S. Ambassador to Turkey (2022–2024) under President Joe Biden. A Republican, Flake represented Arizona in the U.S. Senate (2013–2019) and U.S. House of Representatives (2001–2013). Known for his independent stance and bipartisan efforts, Flake was part of the 'Gang of Eight' senators who championed immigration reform in 2013. A native of Snowflake, Arizona, Flake earned his BA and MA from Brigham Young University, served as a missionary in South Africa, and worked as Executive Director for both the Goldwater Institute and the Foundation for Democracy in Namibia before entering Congress.
