Leslie N. Love, born on July 8, 1971, is an American politician and educator. She served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2014 to 2020, representing the 10th District, which includes parts of northwest Detroit and Redford Township. Love made history as the first African-American appointed to the Michigan Natural Resources Commission by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. She also held roles in education as the director of theater operations and adjunct professor at Marygrove College, and as an assistant deputy director in the Michigan Department of Transportation. In 2023, Love announced her candidacy for the 2024 U.S. Senate race, aiming to become Michigan's first Black Senator. She holds a bachelor's degree from Siena Heights University and master's degrees from Marygrove College and Wayne State University.
