Joni Ernst, born in Red Oak, Iowa, is a U.S. Senator dedicated to serving her state and country. She served in the military for over 23 years, including as a company commander during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard. As a senator, Joni focuses on strengthening the economy, supporting Iowa's farmers and small businesses, and ensuring national security. She is the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from Iowa and the first female combat veteran to serve in the Senate. She also chairs the Republican Policy Committee and serves on several key Senate committees, including Armed Services and Agriculture.
