James C. Justice II, born April 27, 1951, is the 36th Governor of West Virginia. He was raised in Raleigh County, West Virginia, and graduated from Marshall University with an MBA. Justice took over the family business, transforming it into a major agricultural and coal enterprise, making him the largest farmer east of the Mississippi River. He also acquired and revitalized The Greenbrier Resort and several other tourism-focused properties. Governor Justice is known for his charitable contributions, particularly in youth sports and helping those in need through his foundation. He was elected governor in 2016, running as a Republican after previously supporting Democrats, and has focused on improving West Virginia’s economy and quality of life. Justice is a passionate sportsman and community leader, having coached basketball and supported local initiatives throughout his career. He is married to Cathy, with two children, and is a member of the First Baptist Church in Beckley, WV.
