Raphael Warnock is the U.S. Senator from Georgia, having made history as the first African American to represent the state in the Senate. He was elected in a special runoff election in January 2021, defeating Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler. Prior to his election, Warnock served as the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, where Martin Luther King Jr. once preached. Warnock is an advocate for healthcare reform, racial equality, and voting rights. His election in 2021 marked a significant political shift in Georgia, a traditionally conservative state, which he won by a narrow margin. He was re-elected in 2022 and continues to work on issues such as economic justice, healthcare access, and climate change.
